Pratapgarh Youth Dies By Hanging, Love Affair Angle Emerges

A 33-year-old man, Javed Akhtar, was found hanging from a noose inside a room of his house in Pure Pitai under the Nagar Kotwali area of Pratapgarh on Wednesday night, with police saying the case is being examined on the basis of family statements and evidence collected from the spot. A love affair has also come to light in the matter, according to the information given to police by the family.

The incident came to light on Thursday morning at around 8 am, after which the Nagar Kotwali police and a forensic team reached the house. Police brought the body down, inspected the scene and collected necessary evidence from the room. The body was then taken into custody, the panchanama was completed, and it was sent for post-mortem examination.

Police said further action will be taken on the basis of the post-mortem report. The investigation is being carried out on the basis of statements of family members and the evidence found at the place of occurrence.

Javed’s mother, Hasina Bano, stated in an application given to police that her son had been in a love affair with a girl for about two years. According to the mother, Javed hanged himself in the room on Wednesday night. However, the actual reason behind the incident has not yet become clear.

Family members said Javed was the youngest among two brothers and one sister. His elder brother works in clothes stitching, while his sister is married. Javed’s father had also died about one year ago. After Javed’s death, there is an atmosphere of grief in the family.
