Pratapgarh Writer Prem Kumar Tripathi Selected for Shabd Sadhak Samman 2026

Pratapgarh-based senior storyteller and litterateur Prem Kumar Tripathi ‘Prem’ has been selected for the ‘शब्द साधक सम्मान 2026’ for his widely discussed story collection ‘सबक’. The selection has been made by Kavya Kala Seva Sansthan, Moharniya, Sitapur, Uttar Pradesh.

According to a letter issued by the institution’s president, Avneesh Trivedi ‘Abhay’, the collection was selected after a fair and proper evaluation of the entries. The award will be presented at the institution’s annual celebration to be held on 29 November 2026.

Pratapgarh, described as a sacred and historic land, has also been a fertile ground for literary talent. The selection of Prem Kumar Tripathi’s collection has added another significant recognition to the district’s literary profile.

Prem Kumar Tripathi ‘Prem’ is currently working on an important research book titled ‘प्रतापगढ़ में प्रेमचंद: एक अवलोकन’. His literary work covers a wide range. So far, seven story collections and one short story collection written by him have been published and have received appreciation in literary circles.

In addition to these published works, his new long-story collection, ‘काली स्याही’, is currently in press. The collection is expected to reach readers soon, according to the source material.

Prem Kumar Tripathi considers the immortal storyteller Munshi Premchand his source of inspiration. On the 90th death anniversary of Munshi Premchand, he remembered him and offered a humble tribute.

Speaking with pride, he said that the Belha (Pratapgarh) region was extremely fortunate because the great storyteller Munshi Premchand had worked as a teacher on this sacred land. He also said that the framework of the world-famous immortal novel ‘गोदान’ was woven on this very land. He described this as a matter of pride for the district.

The selection of the story collection has led to an atmosphere of happiness in Pratapgarh’s literary circles.
