Police wound criminal in encounter after suspects fire on officers in Sambhal

A police encounter with two motorcycle-borne criminals took place in the Asmoli police station area of Sambhal district. One of the accused was injured in retaliatory police firing while his accomplice managed to escape under cover of darkness. The injured criminal has been sent to Community Health Centre Asmoli for treatment, and local reports have also confirmed the incident.

The case pertains to the route connecting Malpur to Sewapur Padarthpur in the Asmoli police station jurisdiction. According to police, the incident occurred when officers attempted to stop two criminals riding a motorcycle during a vehicle checking operation.

Police have alleged that the criminals opened fire on the police team, following which officers resorted to retaliatory firing in self-defence.

In the exchange of fire, Tanzim alias Tanvir alias Shampoo alias Sunny was struck by a bullet in his leg and sustained injuries. The wounded criminal has been placed in police custody and transferred to Community Health Centre Asmoli for medical treatment. Meanwhile, his associate fled from the spot, and police are conducting combing operations in the surrounding areas to trace him.

According to police, a motorcycle, a country-made pistol, a magazine and live cartridges have also been recovered from the scene. Police are carrying out further action in the matter.
