PM Narendra Modi Becomes Longest-Serving Prime Minister; Special Prayers Held at Char Dham

PM Narendra Modi achieved a significant milestone on June 10 by becoming the longest-serving Prime Minister of India, completing 4,399 consecutive days in office. To mark this occasion, special prayers and rituals were conducted at the Char Dham temples—Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath.

At Kedarnath, the Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC) and temple priests performed a 'Jalabhishek' in PM Modi's name, followed by a 'yagna' for his long life. In Badrinath, a special 'Maha Abhishek', 'havan', and prayers were held. At Gangotri, MLA Suresh Singh Chauhan organized special prayers and a Ganga Aarti in the Prime Minister's name. Similarly, at Yamunotri, the first aarti of the day was dedicated to PM Modi by the temple priests.

The Char Dham Yatra, which began on April 19, has seen over 34 lakh pilgrims visiting the temples in 52 days. Kedarnath recorded the highest footfall with 14 lakh visitors, followed by Badrinath with 10 lakh, Gangotri with 6 lakh, and Yamunotri with over 5.4 lakh. However, the pilgrimage season has also witnessed 183 deaths, primarily due to health issues such as high-altitude sickness and heart attacks. Kedarnath reported the highest number of fatalities at 88, followed by Badrinath (55), Yamunotri (23), and Gangotri (17).

Authorities had issued health advisories before the Yatra, urging elderly and medically vulnerable pilgrims to undergo health check-ups. Despite these measures, challenges related to high altitude and pre-existing conditions persisted.
