International cricketer Pankaj Singh, who has helped build Amethi’s identity in the world of cricket through his talent and hard work, has said that villages and small towns have no shortage of talent. What is needed, he said, is the right direction and better platforms to help these talented youngsters move forward.

During an interaction, Pankaj Singh said that even today, a large number of children and young people in villages are enthusiastic about sports. They have talent and the determination to achieve something, but many of them are unable to progress because of a lack of resources and proper guidance.

He said that if young players are provided with better training, facilities and platforms, athletes emerging from villages can bring recognition to the country at the national and international levels. According to him, the talent is present, but it needs to be identified, trained and given opportunities to perform.

Pankaj Singh said Amethi is developing a distinct identity not only because of its political and historical importance, but also because of its sporting talent. Young people in the district are showing enthusiasm for cricket as well as various other sports.

He said continuous efforts are needed to develop and refine this talent. The focus, he added, should be on recognising the abilities of young people in villages and helping them move ahead through the right opportunities and support.

During the interaction, there was also a discussion about the growing influence of Dainik Sahara Jeevan, published from Amethi, in the fields of print and digital journalism. Pankaj Singh said that although social media and online platforms have become increasingly popular in the digital era, print media continues to retain its credibility and important role.

He said newspapers are an important medium for making society aware, bringing local issues before the public and taking positive activities to people. He particularly highlighted the role of newspapers published at the local level, saying they firmly bring forward the voice of villages, towns and the district.

Pankaj Singh described the publication of Dainik Sahara Jeevan from Amethi and its continued efforts to strengthen its presence at the local level as a positive initiative. He said giving prominence to local talent, social concerns and the achievements of the region is important work for society.

He said the need of the hour is to provide the new generation with better opportunities and platforms in both sports and journalism. If talent from villages is identified and efforts are made to help it progress, young people from Amethi can establish their own identity on the national and international stages in the future.

The interaction also included a meaningful discussion on sports, young talent, Amethi’s identity and the changing role of print and digital media. Various other related issues were also discussed during the meeting.

Behta village head and Pankaj Singh’s elder brother, Lalit Singh, were also present on the occasion.
