Panchayat Conference in Firozabad Promotes VB-G RAM G Act for Rural Development

A Panchayat Conference held in Firozabad’s Paliwal Hall focused on rural development and employment under the new VB-G RAM G Act, 2025. Representatives from 564 gram panchayats, including village heads, secretaries, and block development officers, participated in discussions aimed at ensuring effective implementation of the Act’s provisions. The event, organized by the district administration, emphasized the Act’s potential to transform rural India through sustainable development and guaranteed employment.

Sadar MLA Manish Asija, the chief guest, hailed the Act as a revolutionary step towards rural rejuvenation. He stated that the central and state governments are committed to making villages self-reliant and empowered. “Village heads and secretaries are the backbone of rural development. Transparent and effective implementation of this scheme will ensure holistic growth, create jobs, and build sustainable assets,” Asija said during his address.

Under the Act, rural families are now entitled to 125 days of guaranteed employment annually, up from the previous 100 days. To avoid disrupting agricultural activities, a provision has been made to halt scheme-related work for 60 days during peak farming seasons. The Act also includes approval for 318 sustainable projects divided into four key categories: water security (107 projects), core rural infrastructure (90 projects), livelihood-related infrastructure (86 projects), and disaster management (35 projects).

District Magistrate Santosh Kumar Sharma explained that the conference aimed to familiarize officials and representatives with the Act’s provisions. He emphasized the importance of tailoring development plans to the specific needs of gram sabhas, ensuring the creation of sustainable assets that strengthen the rural economy. Key topics such as water conservation, disaster management, and environmental protection were also discussed.

Participants expressed optimism that the Act would not only provide employment but also transform villages by addressing local needs and building lasting infrastructure. With detailed orientation and planning, officials believe the district’s gram panchayats will see significant progress in line with the Act’s objectives.
