NIA Raids 11 Bihar Locations in Alleged Fake Currency, Drug Smuggling Case

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) carried out a major operation in Bihar’s Madhubani district on Thursday morning in connection with a case involving alleged counterfeit currency and narcotics smuggling. The agency conducted simultaneous raids at 11 locations linked to the alleged smuggling syndicate associated with Heera Mahaseth, also known as ‘Chachi’.

According to the report, the action began at around 5 a.m. in the Basopatti and Jainagar areas. NIA teams are examining documents and other materials at the locations as part of the investigation. Local police and an SSB team have also been deployed to provide security during the operation.

Investigating agencies are collecting information about other members of the alleged network. They are also examining its possible interstate and cross-border connections. A reported suspicion that the network’s links may extend from Madhubani to Kathmandu is also part of the probe.

No official detailed account of the material recovered during the raids has been released so far. The authorities have not yet provided further details about the findings from the 11 locations or the alleged network.
