According to the information available, Rahul Sharma, son of late Girish Chandra and a resident of Munnapur village, was drinking water at the kund near a tubewell beside the field at around one o’clock on Thursday afternoon. At that time, Shiv Kumar, son of Ravi Kumar, was levelling the soil in the field using a rotavator attached to his private John Deere tractor.
It has been reported that shortly after Rahul reached the field, he was caught in the rotavator attached behind the moving tractor. He became trapped in the machine and died at the spot. The accident led to cries for help at the scene, following which a large number of villagers gathered there.
The body was badly trapped in the rotavator after the accident. Rahul’s aunt, Satyawati, said that he had been drinking water before the incident. She said Rahul went towards the field after being called. According to her, it took considerable effort to bring his body out of the machine.
Satyawati also said that the sight of the incident caused fear among the villagers. The accident took place during the process of ploughing and soil levelling in the field, when the rotavator was attached to the tractor.
After the incident, tractor driver Shiv Kumar left the tractor at the spot and went away. The family has demanded a fair investigation into the matter. Family members said Rahul and Shiv Kumar were friends and that everything had been normal with Rahul before the incident.
Rahul’s younger brother Aakash said that around one or two hours before the incident, Rahul had also asked for 200 rupees to be sent to his account for some work. The family has placed this detail before the police while seeking an impartial investigation into what happened in the field.
