Political activity has intensified over the elections to eight seats in the Bihar Legislative Council. Voting is scheduled for 23 October, and the NDA has decided to convene an important meeting on Friday to finalise its election strategy.

A meeting of senior NDA leaders was also held at the residence of Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary. The discussions focused on maintaining unity within the alliance during the election.

The Patna Graduate constituency has emerged as the biggest centre of attention. The JD(U)’s official candidate, Neeraj Kumar, is facing a political challenge from Anant Singh, a legislator from the same party. The internal confrontation between the two has also opened up a possible political opportunity for the Jan Suraaj candidate.

The election is being contested for eight seats, and the NDA is not the only political grouping in the fray. The Mahagathbandhan, Jan Suraaj and independent candidates are also contesting the polls.

Because of the presence of these parties and candidates, several seats are likely to witness multi-cornered contests. Against this backdrop, the NDA’s meeting on Friday is expected to focus on finalising the alliance’s election strategy and keeping its leaders and candidates united.
