Fake currency worth a total of Rs 5,26,500 has been recovered from the accused and from a flat in Delhi, according to the police.

The police also recovered a laptop, a colour printer and other material allegedly being used to prepare the counterfeit notes. Investigators are now trying to gather information about the network of the accused and identify other people connected with the operation.

The action was carried out under the direction of Muzaffarnagar Senior Superintendent of Police Suraj Kumar Rai as part of the campaign being conducted against criminals in the district. According to the police, information was received from an informer on 14 October that some people carrying counterfeit currency were present on the Meerut-Karnal Highway.

Acting on the information, the police reached the spot and detained three suspects for questioning. The questioning led to the disclosure of the alleged counterfeit currency operation, police said.

The arrested accused have been identified as Shubham, a resident of Baghpat and currently living in Narela, Delhi; Mahendra, a resident of Pauri Garhwal; and Teenu, a resident of Meerut.

According to the police, fake notes worth about Rs 4 lakh were recovered from the possession of the accused. After this recovery, the police searched a flat located in Narela, Delhi.

The search of the Delhi flat led to the recovery of additional counterfeit notes worth Rs 1,26,500, the police said. With this recovery, the total value of the fake currency seized in the case has been put at Rs 5,26,500.

Police said the accused were allegedly using a laptop, colour printer, cotton paper, butter paper, coloured film and other material to prepare the counterfeit notes. The police are also checking the criminal history of the three accused and examining their contacts. The purpose is to find out whether other people were involved in the alleged racket and to trace the wider network connected with the fake currency operation.
