Municipal officer accused of tender irregularities; BJP demands investigation

The Municipal Executive Officer of Nagar Palika Parishad Bhinga in Shravasti district is facing mounting pressure as allegations of irregularities in multiple tender processes continue to pile up. Dr. Anita Shukla, the EO, has been accused of arbitrary decisions in several tenders, with complaints previously lodged by former Minister-in-Charge Dara Singh Chauhan, Urban Development Minister AK Sharma, and District Panchayat President Daddan Mishra.

BJP Yuva Morcha district president Hariom Tiwari has now escalated the matter by demanding an investigation from the District Magistrate and action against officials involved in the tender committee. According to Tiwari, one tender previously approved by the EO was cancelled due to irregularities. Despite an ongoing investigation, the same cancelled tender is reportedly being floated again, raising serious questions about procedural compliance.

Tiwari has appealed to the District Magistrate to halt all tender processes until the investigation is completed. He has also demanded that Dr. Shukla's financial powers be suspended, citing allegations of arbitrary conduct in tenders worth six crore rupees. The BJP youth leader emphasized that allowing the tender process to continue while an inquiry is underway sets a troubling precedent and undermines accountability.

The matter is set to be taken to the highest level, with Tiwari announcing plans to file a formal complaint with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The growing list of complainants, which includes senior ministers and elected representatives, indicates the seriousness of the allegations. The controversy has put the spotlight on tender management practices in the municipal body, with demands for transparency and strict action gaining momentum.
