Mohanlal joins Kerala's anti-narcotic campaign as 'Toofan Warrior'

Thiruvananthapuram: Actor Mohanlal has lent his support to Kerala’s anti-narcotic campaign, "Operation Toofan," by joining forces with the state police as its ‘Toofan Warrior.’ On Thursday, Mohanlal met Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala and expressed his commitment to the special mission, which aims to make Kerala a drug-free state.

Home Minister Chennithala emphasized the importance of public cooperation in the campaign and highlighted the impact of Mohanlal’s involvement. “Support from a widely admired figure like Mohanlal would give the mission fresh momentum,” he said, adding that the actor’s influence could help raise greater awareness in society about the dangers of drug abuse.

The minister also clarified that Operation Toofan is not a temporary initiative but a sustained effort to eradicate the drug mafia from the state. He announced plans to intensify awareness campaigns and monitoring systems in schools, colleges, hostels, and residential areas. Additionally, ‘Toofan Warriors’ will be formed across various sectors to ensure public participation in the fight against drug trafficking.

Chennithala further revealed that steps are being taken to establish coordinated mechanisms with other South Indian states and national agencies to combat drug trafficking. The campaign will also involve creating a robust defensive network in collaboration with the Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, and airport and port authorities.
