Mob attacks police team in Kanpur, helps accused escape during notice service

A police team from Kanyapur's Kalyanpur station was attacked by an angry mob in the Derapur police station area of Kanpur Dehat district when officers arrived to serve a notice on a suspect and recover a vehicle linked to a case. The crowd overpowered the team, assaulted personnel, and helped the accused escape from custody, forcing a sub-inspector to fire in the air to control the escalating situation.

According to information available, the Kalyanpur police team had reached Derapur to serve a notice on accused Sonu Shukla alias Pranjul Shukla in connection with a case and to recover an Innova car that had been used in the incident. As soon as the police arrived at the location, people present there began protesting and within moments the situation turned into a full-blown confrontation.

As per the complaint lodged by the police, the crowd surrounded the police team and obstructed them in the discharge of their official duties, then began assaulting the police personnel. Taking advantage of the chaos and confusion, the agitated mob helped accused Sonu Shukla alias Pranjul Shukla flee from the spot.

Seeing the atmosphere turn tense and in order to protect himself and his team, sub-inspector Amit Malik fired his service revolver in the air, which created panic among the rioters. Information about the incident was immediately conveyed to senior officers, following which additional police force was deployed at the location.

Police have registered a case against Manoj, Sunil, Paras and several other unidentified individuals under sections related to attacking the police team, assault, and obstructing government work. At present the area is peaceful and police have launched a search operation to apprehend the accused.

Heavy police force rushed to the spot after receiving information and brought the situation under control. The investigation into the matter is currently underway as authorities work to identify all those involved in the attack and track down the escaped suspect.
