Men open fire on moving vehicle on Amethi bypass, narrowly miss occupants

A group of men travelling in a car opened fire on a Scorpio vehicle on the Amethi bypass, shattering the Scorpio's windscreen while the occupants narrowly escaped harm, police said.

The attackers allegedly chased the Scorpio, overtook it and then fired at the vehicle, according to the complaint. The incident took place on the Amethi bypass when the victims were returning home from Lucknow.

The firing followed a dispute over a minor issue, the complaint stated.

Police reached the spot after receiving information about the firing and have launched an investigation into the matter. The case falls under the jurisdiction of Amethi Kotwali police station area and officers are working to identify and trace the assailants who were travelling in the car.

The windscreen of the Scorpio was damaged in the attack but all passengers inside managed to escape without injuries in what could have been a fatal encounter on the busy bypass route.
