Man Detained After Allegedly Slapping Gwalior Medical College Dean

A shocking incident of an alleged assault on Gajraraja Medical College Dean Dr. RKS Dhakad has been reported from the trauma centre of Jayarogya Hospital in Gwalior, shortly after Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav’s visit to the facility.

According to information from the spot, a man slapped the dean inside the hospital. Following the incident, angry subordinate officers and employees allegedly attacked the accused with kicks and punches.

Police personnel present at the spot intervened and somehow rescued the man from the angry crowd. The accused was then taken into custody. The incident took place in the area under Kampoo police station.

The person taken into custody has been identified as Manoj Sharma, according to the information available. After being detained, Manoj was reportedly describing himself as “mad” and anti-corruption.

It is also being reported that Manoj Sharma had earlier faced allegations of throwing ink at, or attacking, several well-known leaders, public figures and officials. However, the police have not yet clarified the reason behind the latest incident.

Dean Dr. RKS Dhakad spoke after the assault. He said that he had been working for a long time and that he did not know why he had been attacked. In his words, “हमला क्यों किया, मुझे पता नहीं”.

Dr. Dhakad expressed confidence in the police and said that action would be taken against the guilty person. The statement came after the accused was removed from the spot and taken into custody by the police.

CSP Robin Jain said that the accused, Manoj Sharma, had been taken into custody. He said that the reason behind the incident was not clear at present.

According to the CSP, the police are questioning the accused and investigating the case. Further details about what led to the confrontation at the trauma centre are awaited.
