Poster war begins in Raebareli ahead of Akhilesh Yadav visit

A poster row broke out in Raebareli just ahead of Samajwadi Party national president Akhilesh Yadav’s one-day visit to the district, sharply raising the political temperature in the area.

Posters carrying the message “Akhilesh Yadav go back” were pasted at different prominent intersections, walls and public places across the city. The sudden appearance of these posters triggered a poster war and created major buzz in political circles.

On one side, Samajwadi Party workers were busy preparing to welcome Akhilesh Yadav for his Raebareli visit. On the other side, posters opposing him were put up at some of the busiest crossings and on key walls in the city. As soon as people noticed the posters, discussions began across the city and the issue quickly became a talking point.

According to the information available, after the entire poster controversy came to light, Bharatiya Janata Party leader Hariom Chaturvedi came forward and took full responsibility for it. He also strongly opposed Akhilesh Yadav’s Raebareli visit.

The poster row has added a sharp political edge to Akhilesh Yadav’s scheduled one-day programme in Raebareli, where preparations by Samajwadi Party workers and the protest posters surfaced at the same time.
