LLB Student Killed After Birthday Party, Body Found In Drain

On 24.09.2026, tension spread in Uttar Pradesh’s Muzaffarnagar district after the blood-soaked body of an LLB student was found in a drain. The student had reportedly gone to a friend’s birthday party on Wednesday evening and did not return home after that.

The deceased has been identified as Rohan, the approximately 18-year-old son of Vivek Rathi, the sitting pradhan of village Hareti under the Purkaji police station area. According to the information available, Rohan was an LLB student and was the only son of the family.

His body was recovered today from a drain located outside the village. The incident has left the family in shock, and there is a state of mourning at the home after the killing of the only son.

Police reached the spot after receiving information about the incident. The body was taken into custody and sent for postmortem. Senior police officials have formed three teams to arrest the killers. These teams have started working on the case using GPS, CDR and CCTV footage.

According to the details from the spot, injury marks were found on Rohan’s body. Because of these marks, it is suspected that he may have been brutally beaten to death. However, the police have not yet given a final conclusion and the postmortem process is being carried out.

Muzaffarnagar SSP Sanjay Kumar Verma has formed three teams for the arrest of the killers. The teams are carrying out a detailed investigation and are examining every possible point. Police are using GPS, CDR and CCTV footage to identify and arrest those involved.

SP City Amrit Jain, while giving more information about the incident, said that information was received today in the Purkaji police station area that a person’s body had been found in the fields. He said the police immediately took note of the information and reached the spot.

Amrit Jain said the person was properly identified and the family members were informed. The field unit was called to the spot. The body was taken into custody, and the process of panchayatnama and postmortem is being carried out.

He further said that three teams have been formed for the successful disclosure of the incident. According to him, help is being taken from all technical means, including CCTV, GPS and CDR. The SOG has also been deployed in the case.

SP City Amrit Jain said that strict action will be ensured as soon as possible for the successful disclosure of the incident.

The killing has also drawn a strong response from the Bharatiya Kisan Union. Naveen Rathi, district president of BKU in Muzaffarnagar, said the boy named Rohan, son of Vivek Rathi, was found in the fields near the sitting pradhan of Hareti’s area and that someone had murdered him brutally.

Naveen Rathi said people came there after getting information in the morning. According to him, when farmers were going to their fields in the morning, they noticed the body and made a phone call to the pradhan. Vivek Rathi then reached the spot.

He said Vivek Rathi also did not know at first that it was his son. When the face was cleaned, the family recognised that it was their own son.

Naveen Rathi said there had been a conversation with “kaptan sahib” and that “kaptan sahib” had given 48 hours’ time. He said SP City had come to the spot, CO Sadar was also present, and police from Purkaji were also there.

The BKU district president said the demand is that the case should be disclosed as soon as possible and strict action should be taken. He said those who had done this should face tough action. Referring to the kind of action Uttar Pradesh Police is known for, he said they wanted similar action in this case as well.

Naveen Rathi also said that the pradhan had only one son and described the incident as extremely tragic. He said there was no enmity with anyone and that the family was not such that it would have rivalry with anyone. He added that it is now the job of the police, and they have asked the police to disclose the incident as quickly as possible and move forward with their action.

The matter is being investigated by the Muzaffarnagar police. The key focus of the investigation is now on the events after Rohan left for the birthday party on Wednesday evening, the circumstances in which he did not return home, and how his body came to be found in the drain outside the village.

Police teams are checking CCTV footage, CDR details and GPS-related inputs. The field unit has examined the spot, and the body has been sent for postmortem to establish further details.
