Allegations of land grabbing by a land mafia have surfaced in Maudaha town’s Chaudhrana locality in Hamirpur, involving land said to be worth billions of rupees.
Heirs of the ancestral property are allegedly making repeated visits to the Revenue Department over the matter. The allegations state that the land mafia manipulated documents and took control of several properties.
The allegations also involve waqf property. By allegedly posing as fake mutawallis, they are accused of dividing among themselves more than approximately 50 bighas of mosque land.
A share in the disputed land is reportedly linked to the ancestors of late Master Ahmed Masroor. The allegations further claim that officials do not conduct a proper investigation because a member of the land mafia’s family is present at the District Magistrate’s office.
The complainant has said that a fair investigation could lead to a major disclosure involving several big names.
There are also allegations that, after manipulating documents, valuable land along a road was transferred into another person’s name. The land mafia is accused of occupying more than nearly half a hundred shops in the market.
The ancestral land of the sons of late Abdul Wahab is also allegedly being used for plotting by the land mafia. The victim is expected to approach Chief Minister Yogi and present the problem.
