The Kisan Union (Bhanu) staged a protest over public problems in Shravasti and submitted a memorandum to the District Magistrate, or DM. The memorandum was submitted regarding issues affecting the Aspirational Block and the Jamunaha area.
Hundreds of union workers and local residents participated in the effort. The group highlighted the poor condition of the Malhipur-Babaganj road, waterlogging and the problems faced by villagers because of road damage.
The union also demanded construction of a protective structure on the Rapti River from Kathra to Birpur Laukiha. It sought compensation for crop damage as well.
Other demands included action on electricity-related issues, farmer registry, drain cleaning and water drainage. The union said immediate action was needed on 11 demands.
Farmer leader Prahlad Singh warned that if public problems were not resolved soon, the agitation would be intensified.
