A special workshop on the PM Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme was organized at Sarwankheda block premises in Kanpur Dehat district to promote clean energy in rural areas and provide relief to villagers from electricity bill burdens. The camp, chaired by Chief Development Officer (CDO) Vidhan Jaiswal, familiarized villagers, gram pradhans, and panchayat secretaries with the scheme's detailed provisions.

CDO Jaiswal explained that rural households can reduce their electricity bills to negligible levels or even zero by installing on-grid solar systems on their rooftops. He added that families can earn additional income by selling surplus electricity generated from their rooftops back to the grid, creating a new revenue stream for rural communities.

During the workshop, subsidy certificates were distributed to beneficiaries Jai Gopal Singh and Ram Milan Singh, both residents of Shahjahanpur Ninayan, who have already availed benefits under the scheme. The certificate distribution served as a practical demonstration of the scheme's implementation and encouraged other potential beneficiaries present at the event.

CDO Jaiswal issued strict instructions to officials from UPNEDA, the electricity department, bank representatives, and panchayat staff to launch village-to-village awareness campaigns. They were directed to ensure timely completion of online applications for eligible families, emphasizing the need for coordinated efforts to maximize scheme coverage.

The event saw significant participation from Block Development Officer (BDO) Sarwankheda, officials from UPNEDA, the power department, banking institutions, and a large number of local villagers. The workshop aims to accelerate solar energy adoption in rural Kanpur Dehat, helping families achieve energy independence while contributing to environmental sustainability.
