JMS World School trains teachers in art-integrated learning methods for classrooms

JMS World School hosted a CBSE Capacity Building Programme focused on Art Integration, where teachers gained insights into effective teaching methods through hands-on group activities and experiential learning approaches.

The workshop was organized as part of CBSE's mandatory requirement for teachers to complete 50 hours of professional training annually. The primary objective of this training was to equip educators with the skills to effectively conduct group activities in their classrooms and integrate art into the teaching-learning process.

The programme's chief resource persons were Mrs. Geeta Sharma, Principal of Motherland Public School, Loni, and Mrs. Pooja Sharma. They engaged the participating teachers in various interesting group activities throughout the session. Teachers themselves worked in groups to create art-integrated models, subject-based role plays, poster making exercises and collaborative projects.

Through these activities, the resource persons demonstrated how even the most complex academic subjects such as mathematics, science and languages can be made interesting and accessible for students by linking them with artistic and group-based activities. The practical, experiential approach helped teachers understand the methodology they could replicate in their own classrooms.

Dr. Ayush Singhal, Managing Director of the school, and Dr. Rohan Singhal, Secretary, stated that when teachers themselves learn through activities, they are able to create a more vibrant and interactive environment for students in their classrooms. This hands-on experience equips them to better facilitate student engagement and learning.

Dr. Nidhi Malik, Principal of JMS World School, explained that under NEP 2020, it is essential to focus classroom teaching on 'Learning by Doing'. Such group activities not only deepen students' understanding but also develop teamwork, leadership abilities and creativity among them. The art integration approach aligns with the new education policy's emphasis on holistic development.

Teachers from various CBSE schools participated in the workshop alongside educators from JMS World School. Participants included teachers from Darshana Academy, Pilkhuwa, and St. Anthony School, Faridabad, among other CBSE-affiliated institutions.

The workshop coordinators Mr. Rakesh Sharma, Mr. Lovlesh and Ms. Sumera played a significant role in ensuring the smooth conduct of the programme. Their coordination efforts contributed to the successful execution of this capacity building initiative.
