Jan Seva Kendra Theft Solved In 48 Hours, Accused Injured In Encounter

Muzaffarnagar’s Kotwali Nagar police said they solved the theft at a Jan Seva Kendra on Roorkee Road within 48 hours, injuring one suspect during a police encounter and arresting another. A third accused fled from the spot, police said.

According to police, a complaint was lodged on 22 September after cash was stolen from the Jan Seva Kendra of Hamid Hasan, a resident of Sherpur. The case was linked to the centre located on Roorkee Road in Muzaffarnagar.

Police said that on 23 September, during checking near the Sherpur Rajwaha, bike-borne suspects opened fire on the police team. In retaliatory action, Sameer, a resident of Sherpur, was injured. During combing after the encounter, police arrested Suhail, while Ashif managed to escape from the spot.

Police said they recovered Rs 2.20 lakh in cash, a bag, the Splendor motorcycle used in the incident, and a country-made pistol along with cartridges from the possession of the accused.

The injured accused has been admitted to a hospital for treatment. Police said the search is on for the absconding accused, Ashif.

The action was carried out under the leadership of Kotwali Nagar police station in-charge Inspector Brijesh Kumar Sharma.
