Indore’s Anant Chaturdashi Procession Draws Thousands, Rajkumar Mill Tableau Wins

The historic Anant Chaturdashi procession in Indore was completed with devotion, faith, enthusiasm and festive spirit, in keeping with the city’s glorious tradition. The grand procession continued through the night, with a large number of city residents taking part. Crowds gathered on the roads and enjoyed the tableaux and performances by the akharas with great enthusiasm.

The night-long Anant Chaturdashi procession in Indore drew thousands of spectators, as attractive tableaux and impressive akhara performances became the main attraction of the event. The displays included religious themes, traditional physical art forms and disciplined performances by participating groups. The tableaux and akharas included in the procession won the admiration of the people who had gathered in large numbers across the city.

The tableau and akhara judging committees constituted by the district administration selected the best-performing tableaux and akharas in different categories by unanimous decision. The selections were made after evaluating the performances and presentations that were part of the procession.

In the tableau category, the tableau of Rajkumar Mill, based on the battle between Lord Vishnu and the demons Madhu-Kaitabh, secured the first position. In the akhara category, Chandrapal Ustad Vyayamshala and Shri Bindaguru Vyayamshala were jointly awarded the first position. In the women’s category, Ramnath Guru Vyayamshala secured the first position.

After the successful completion of the procession, Collector Shivam Verma expressed gratitude to the citizens of Indore, as well as the officers and employees involved in making arrangements for the event. He also thanked the tableau organisers, members of the akharas and media persons. He appreciated all those who cooperated in making the procession peaceful and successful.

Collector Shivam Verma also announced cash prizes on behalf of the district administration for various categories of akharas. In the Gatka, Fari and both-hands Banethi categories, the first prize has been fixed at Rs 1 lakh, the second prize at Rs 50 thousand and the third prize at Rs 25 thousand. In addition, special prizes of Rs 10 thousand each will also be given.

For the women’s category, the first prize has been fixed at Rs 50 thousand, the second prize at Rs 25 thousand and the third prize at Rs 15 thousand. In the boys’ and girls’ categories, all selected artists will be given cash prizes of Rs 10 thousand each.

The Anant Chaturdashi celebration once again became a living example of Indore’s rich cultural tradition, social participation and festive spirit. The procession reflected the city’s long-standing public tradition, with religious faith, public involvement and organised participation by tableau groups and akharas marking the event from start to finish.
