Hong Kong Offers 5% Discounts for Major Event Ticket Holders

Hong Kong residents and visitors can now enjoy a 5% discount on dining, shopping, and attractions by presenting tickets to five major events scheduled in August and September. The initiative, announced by the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) on Monday, aims to boost spending in the city’s retail and catering sectors.

Discounts Across 100+ Hotels and Attractions

The HKTB has partnered with over 100 designated hotels and tourist attractions to offer these discounts. Executive Director Anthony Lau Chun-hon explained that the move links mega-events with spending experiences to encourage both locals and tourists to support tourism-related businesses. “With a series of major sports, cultural, and arts events under way, we have proactively joined forces with multiple industry partners to enhance these offers,” Lau said.

Eligible Events Include Sports, Music, and Exhibitions

The promotion covers ticket holders for several high-profile events. These include the Hong Kong Football Festival 2026, taking place on July 31, August 1, 4, and 5, and the Football Summit 2026 match between FC Bayern Munich and Aston Villa on August 7. Music lovers can benefit from the discount by attending the 2026 TMElive International Music Awards on August 22 and 23 or concerts by mainland Chinese singer Silence Wang Sulong on September 5 and 6.

Additionally, visitors to the "Ancient Egypt Unveiled: Treasures from Egyptian Museums" exhibition at the Hong Kong Palace Museum in August are also eligible for the offers.

This initiative reflects Hong Kong’s strategy to revitalize its tourism and hospitality sectors, which have faced challenges in recent years.
