The closing ceremony of the 9th National Nutrition Month was held at the Vikas Bhawan auditorium in Hathras on 08 October. Anganwadi workers and helpers who carried out outstanding work during the month were honoured with certificates of appreciation.

The programme was organised under the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan and the Poshan Abhiyan. The Chief Development Officer presided over the ceremony, which marked the conclusion of the ninth National Nutrition Month.

During the event, one Anganwadi worker from each project who got the highest number of applications filled out under the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana during the Nutrition Month was selected for recognition. One Anganwadi helper from each project who performed her responsibilities effectively was also honoured.

The certificates of appreciation for these workers and helpers were presented by the Chief Development Officer. The certificates were given in recognition of their work during the Nutrition Month and their role in carrying out the responsibilities assigned to them.

Certificates issued with the signature of the Chief Minister were also distributed to one winner from each project in the Healthy Baby Competition organised at Anganwadi centres.

The ceremony also recognised officials associated with the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana. Child Development Project Officer of Mursan, Smt. Stuti Verma, and In-charge Child Development Project Officer of Hasayan, Smt. Rekha Singh, were honoured with certificates for getting the highest number of applications filled under their respective projects.

Addressing the Anganwadi workers, the Chief Development Officer directed them to identify all malnourished children in their areas. They were asked to ensure regular monitoring of the children’s nutrition and health.

The workers were also instructed to visit the homes of pregnant women and provide them with information about nutrition, health and departmental schemes. The Chief Development Officer stressed the need for regular contact and continued attention while carrying out these responsibilities.

The Chief Development Officer said Anganwadi centres should not remain merely centres for children. They should become safe, warm and homelike places where children feel a sense of belonging.

The official said children should develop the same feeling towards the Anganwadi centre and the Anganwadi worker and helper as they have towards their own home. For this, the workers and helpers were asked to continue working with sensitivity and dedication.

All Child Development Project Officers, Chief Supervisors, Anganwadi workers and Anganwadi helpers were present at the programme.
