Hathras Farmer Allegedly Killed While Ploughing, One Accused Arrested

A farmer, Mahipal Singh, was allegedly killed while ploughing a field with a tractor in Ghooncha village under the Sadabad police station area of Hathras on October 3. Sadabad police have arrested one accused in the case and started the necessary legal action against him.

The arrested accused has been identified as Jangjeet Singh, son of Hari Singh, a resident of Nagla Mohanlal. Police arrested him on October 8 in connection with the killing.

According to the police, Mahipal Singh had gone to the field at around 4 am on October 3 with his younger son Raman. They had taken a tractor there for ploughing. Raman was preparing the corners of the field, while Mahipal Singh was operating the tractor and ploughing the land.

The police said that during this time, Mahipal Singh’s brother Jangjeet Singh allegedly reached the field along with his wife and son. They were allegedly carrying lathis, iron rods and a spade.

It has been alleged that Jangjeet Singh and the people accompanying him assaulted Mahipal Singh and killed him. After the alleged assault, a tractor cultivator was placed over him.

When Raman raised an alarm, people from nearby areas rushed towards the spot. The accused allegedly fled from the scene after this. According to the police, the accused also threatened to kill them while leaving the spot.

After receiving information about the incident, Sadabad police registered a case under the relevant sections. On the direction of Hathras Superintendent of Police Chiranjiv Nath Sinha, five police teams were formed to arrest the accused in the case.

As part of the investigation, the Sadabad police arrested Jangjeet Singh on October 8. Police said the case has been registered as Mu0a0Sa0 401/2026 under Sections 105/351(3)/3(5) of the BNS.

The team that carried out the arrest included Inspector-in-Charge Vijay Singh and the Sadabad police station team. The police said further necessary legal action has been started in the matter.
