Girl Killed, 16 Injured As Bus Rolls Down Road In J&K's Udhampur

A girl died and 16 others were injured after a bus skidded off the road and rolled down along the Basantgarh-Ramnagar road in Jammu’s Udhampur district. The accident took place at Gulli Gala in the Pachound area of Latti-Basantgarh tehsil.

Six passengers suffered serious injuries and were being shifted to Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Ramnagar, while the remaining injured passengers were receiving treatment at Primary Health Centre (PHC) Basantgarh, he said.

The bus accident led to an immediate rescue and evacuation operation at the spot. All passengers were promptly evacuated with the timely intervention of local residents, according to Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh.

Earlier, Singh said he had spoken to Udhampur Deputy Commissioner Ananth Dwivedi following the accident. In a post, the Union Minister said the rescue team had reached the spot and that all necessary assistance was being provided.

The accident occurred on the Basantgarh-Ramnagar road, where the bus skidded off the road before rolling down. The six seriously injured passengers were being shifted to SDH Ramnagar for treatment, while other injured passengers remained at PHC Basantgarh.
