Ghaziabad: Two Rape Suspects Injured In ACP Pandey-Led Encounter

Ghaziabad: Two suspects wanted in a rape case were arrested after a police encounter in the Vijaynagar police station area during Navratri. Both sustained gunshot injuries to their legs in the operation late on 17 October 2026 and were admitted to the district MMG Hospital in Ghaziabad for treatment. According to confirmation from the reporter, ACP Upasana Pandey led the operation.
According to the police press note, the encounter took place on the pusta road at Hindon Barrage. Police named the arrested suspects as Pradeep and Mustakeen, with the latter name spelt मुस्तकीन in the written note. Both were wanted in a rape case registered at Vijaynagar police station on 17 October. The press note attributed their arrest and the recoveries to the Vijaynagar police team.
Police said an informer had provided information that the two wanted suspects had been seen in the area. Officers subsequently set up barriers and began checking vehicles. During the checking operation, two men approached on a motorcycle. The team tried to stop them, but, according to police, the riders turned the motorcycle around and attempted to flee instead of stopping.
In the account given by police, the motorcycle became unbalanced on an uneven stretch of road and both riders fell. Police alleged that the men opened fire when they saw the team approaching them. Officers said they returned fire in self-defence, injuring both men in the legs before apprehending them. The description of the attempted escape and exchange of fire is the police version of the encounter.
Police reported recovering two illegal .315-bore country-made pistols, two live cartridges of the same bore, a TVS motorcycle without a registration number plate and two mobile phones. The injured suspects were sent to hospital, and the police statement said necessary legal action was being taken. It also stated that peace and law and order were maintained at the scene following the operation.
