Floods displace nearly 100 families in Hamirpur, administration provides emergency relief

Breaking floods in Hamirpur district have thrown normal life into complete disarray, with nearly 100 families forced to flee their homes as floodwaters swept through their villages. The affected families have taken shelter in panchayat buildings, where the local administration has swiftly arranged food, drinking water, and emergency supplies to help them weather the crisis.

Senior district officials, including the Additional District Magistrate and Sub-Divisional Magistrate, rushed to the affected areas on receiving information about the flooding. They inspected Bagiya Dera, Rajwa Dera, and Natthupal ka Dera to assess the damage and meet the displaced families. On-site, the officials distributed relief kits containing essential rations and other necessary items to those who had lost access to their homes. The ADM issued strict instructions to ensure that shelters are equipped with adequate food, drinking water, medicines, and lighting, leaving no room for shortages.

The flooding has particularly impacted villages in Shivni panchayat under Muskara block, an area that faces recurring inundation every year. Recognizing the chronic nature of the problem, the administration has decided to grant new land allotments to 37 families who are repeatedly affected by floods. These families will receive plots on higher ground, offering them a more permanent and safer solution away from flood-prone zones.

Health teams have been placed on high alert, with authorities giving firm directions for fumigation and sanitation drives once the floodwaters recede. The administration has assured victims of all possible assistance and promised to remain vigilant until the situation normalizes. Officials emphasized that the government stands firmly behind the affected families during this difficult time.
