Firozabad: Shikohabad latrine tank wall collapses, mason and labourer seriously injured

A mason and a labourer were seriously injured in Firozabad’s Shikohabad after the wall of an under-construction latrine tank suddenly collapsed and buried them under the debris.

The incident took place in Vijendra Colony under the Shikohabad police station area. On Thursday, construction work on a latrine tank was going on at the house of Rajiv Yadav. The mason and the labourer were working on the tank when one side of the wall suddenly came crashing down.

Both men got trapped under the debris of the collapsed wall. The accident led to panic at the spot. People from the surrounding area immediately started rescue efforts and pulled both injured men out from under the rubble.

After being rescued, the injured mason and labourer were taken to the Joint District Hospital in Shikohabad. Doctors there gave them primary treatment. However, as their condition was serious, both were referred to the medical college for further treatment.

After information about the incident was received, Shikohabad police station in-charge Anuj Kumar reached the hospital. He took details of the incident from the injured. The police later also inspected the spot where the wall had collapsed.

Police are now gathering information about the reasons behind the accident. The incident happened during construction work at the latrine tank, and the wall collapse is being examined by the police.

Dr. Mohit Singhal, a physician, and Arpan Yadav, described as the house owner, were listed as giving statements on the incident. The report is from J P Singh in Firozabad.
