England Women unveil squad for historic Test against India at Lord's

England Women have revealed a 15-player squad for their upcoming one-off Test against India, marking the team’s first-ever women’s Test match at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground. The squad features five uncapped players, highlighting England’s focus on nurturing fresh talent for this landmark occasion.

Among the uncapped players, star all-rounder Alice Capsey is set to make her Test debut. Capsey, a right-handed batter who has already represented England in 89 limited-overs internationals, is regarded as one of the most promising young players in women’s cricket. Joining her in the squad are Tilly Corteen-Coleman, a rising cricketing talent, along with Durham all-rounder Mady Villiers, Grace Potts, and Ellie Threlkeld.

Nat Sciver-Brunt, England’s current T20 captain, has been named to lead the side for this historic encounter. However, her participation will depend on her recovery from a calf strain that has kept her on the sidelines during the ongoing T20 World Cup. The four-day Test is scheduled to commence on July 10, just four days after the World Cup final.

Despite their involvement in England's most recent Test against Australia during the 2024-25 Women’s Ashes, Sophia Dunkley, Danni Wyatt-Hodge, and Ryana MacDonald-Gay have been left out of the squad.
