Devotees flock to Baba Vibhutinath Temple for Shravan rituals

Devotees thronged the ancient Baba Vibhutinath Mahadev Temple in Shravasti district on the second Monday of the holy month of Shravan. Located in Sirsiya, the temple witnessed massive crowds as devotees lined up to offer prayers and perform the ceremonial jalabhishek to Lord Shiva, chanting "Har Har Mahadev."

While local residents participated in large numbers, devotees from nearby districts like Bahraich and Balrampur also arrived early in the morning to join the rituals. The temple premises were bustling with activity, with food distribution (bhandara) organized by worshippers where visitors received prasad. To ensure smooth management of the crowds, a significant police presence was deployed around the temple to prevent any untoward incidents.

The Baba Vibhutinath Mahadev Temple holds immense historical and spiritual significance. Believed to be from the Mahabharata era, this Pandava-era temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is often referred to as "Gupt Kashi." According to legend, the Pandavas established the Shivling here during their 12-year exile and one year of incognito living. It is said that Bhima, one of the Pandavas, founded a village in the area, which was originally called Bhimgaon and later evolved into Bhinga.

The temple, surrounded by the serene forests of Sohailwa, continues to attract devotees seeking divine blessings and a connection to its rich mythological past. The Shravan month, considered highly auspicious for worshipping Lord Shiva, further amplifies the spiritual fervor at this sacred site.
