Custodial Death: SP MP S P Singh Patel House Arrested Before Family Visit

Samajwadi Party MP SP Singh Patel was placed under house arrest in Pratapgarh as he was on his way to meet the family of Arjun Gautam, who died in police custody at Patti police station.

According to the information available, the MP was scheduled to go to the village on Monday to meet the victim’s family and express his condolences. Before he could leave, the police administration stopped him at his residence as a precautionary step.

Police cited security and law-and-order concerns for the action. The administration said that there is still a tense situation in the village, and for this reason no political person has been allowed to go there so that the situation does not worsen further.

SP Singh Patel expressed anger over the action taken against him. He said the government wants to suppress the voice of the victim’s family. He also said that he would continue to fight to get justice for the family.

The case relates to the death of Arjun Gautam in police custody at Patti police station, after which the victim’s family has become the focus of political attention. The administration has maintained that restrictions were imposed to prevent any further escalation in the village.
