Chandrashekhar Gets MP BJP Organisation General Secretary Post After 8 Months

The Madhya Pradesh BJP organisation has seen a major change after a long wait, with Chandrashekhar appointed as the party’s State General Secretary (Organisation) for Madhya Pradesh. The BJP’s central organisation announced organisational appointments in several states on Thursday, and Chandrashekhar’s name was included for Madhya Pradesh. His organisational centre will be Bhopal, and all the appointments will come into effect immediately.

The post of State General Secretary (Organisation) in Madhya Pradesh had been vacant for around eight months. According to the party, Chandrashekhar will now operate from Bhopal and take charge of the organisational responsibilities in the state unit.

Chandrashekhar has earlier handled organisational responsibilities for the BJP in Rajasthan and Telangana. He has a Sangh background and has worked as a pracharak. He is known to have long experience of working with the organisation in different states.

In Rajasthan, Chandrashekhar was made the BJP’s Organisation General Secretary in September 2017. He handled the organisation there for around six years. During the 2023 Rajasthan Assembly election too, he remained active at the organisational level. After the election, in January 2024, he was appointed Telangana BJP’s State General Secretary (Organisation).

After handling the organisation in Telangana, the BJP has now sent him to Madhya Pradesh. The party has said that his centre will be Bhopal. In Madhya Pradesh, the post of State Organisation General Secretary had been vacant since January 2026, after Hitanand Sharma returned to the Sangh. Until the new appointment, the organisational work was being handled by Regional Organisation Minister Ajay Jamwal.

Chandrashekhar is said to be originally from Banda district in Uttar Pradesh. He has worked in the Sangh as a Vibhag Pracharak. After that, he also handled organisational responsibilities in the Kashi region and western Uttar Pradesh. During the 2014 Lok Sabha election, he is also said to have had an organisational role in Varanasi.

The BJP made a total of 24 organisational appointments across the country on Thursday. Shivprakash and Saudan Singh have been given the responsibility of National Joint General Secretary (Organisation). Along with this, State General Secretaries (Organisation) and Joint General Secretaries (Organisation) have been appointed in several states. Chandrashekhar’s name has been included for Madhya Pradesh.

With Chandrashekhar’s appointment, an important post in the Madhya Pradesh BJP’s organisational structure, which had been lying vacant for around eight months, has now been filled. The new assignment places before him the responsibility of coordination within the state organisation, maintaining contact with party workers, and taking organisational activities forward.

The appointment is being seen as a significant organisational change in the Madhya Pradesh BJP because the post of State General Secretary (Organisation) is central to the party’s internal working. Chandrashekhar comes to the state after working in Rajasthan for nearly six years and then in Telangana, and his base for the Madhya Pradesh assignment will remain Bhopal.
