BJP MLA Seeks Probe Into Alleged Shravasti Airport Construction Irregularities

Serious questions have been raised over the quality of construction at Shravasti Airport. BJP MLA from Gonda Sadar, Prateek Bhushan Singh, has written to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, citing the structural audit report of IIT Roorkee and an inspection conducted by his representative.

In the letter, written on 7 October, Singh has demanded a high-level investigation into alleged irregularities in the airport’s construction. The demand comes in the wake of concerns raised about the condition of different parts of the airport infrastructure.

According to the MLA, the airport’s boundary wall has been damaged. This has created a risk of animals reaching the runway, he said. The MLA has also raised concerns over the poor drainage system at the airport.

The issues mentioned include accumulated water, tilted drains, and dampness and cracks in the buildings. These shortcomings have prompted questions about the quality and condition of the construction work.

The construction work has been assigned to Uttar Pradesh Rajkiya Nirman Nigam Limited. Against this backdrop, a major question is whether the prescribed quality and safety standards were followed during construction.

Attention is now on the government’s investigation and the action that will follow.
