Bihar Government Reviews Two Greenfield Airport Projects Worth ₹10,000 Crore

The government has reviewed two proposed greenfield airport projects in Bihar as part of preparations to expand air connectivity in the state, with discussions covering the Sonpur International Airport and the Ajgaibinath Dham Airport projects.

The review meeting was chaired by Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary. During the meeting, officials discussed the master plans for both greenfield airports, along with land acquisition, connectivity and the construction process.

According to the report, the two projects together involve a proposed PPP investment of around ₹10 thousand crore. Of this, an investment of about ₹3,500 crore has been mentioned for Ajgaibinath Dham Airport, while around ₹6,500 crore has been mentioned for the first phase of Sonpur Airport.

The government will bear the costs related to land acquisition and connectivity for the projects.

The meeting also discussed plans to develop Sonpur Airport in a way that would make it suitable for larger aircraft and cargo facilities. The proposed airport is expected to provide air connectivity to several districts of Bihar, as well as to bordering areas.

The review marks a step in the preparation process for the two new airports, with the focus on investment structure, project planning, land requirements, connectivity support and construction-related issues.
