Bangladeshi national held at Mirzapur railway station without valid travel documents

A 23-year-old Bangladeshi national was detained at Mirzapur railway station in Uttar Pradesh during a joint security operation conducted by the Railway Protection Force and Government Railway Police. The suspect, identified as Mohammad Riyaz Ahmed, a resident of Habiganj in Bangladesh, was apprehended under suspicious circumstances aboard the Brahmaputra Mail train number 15658 during routine checks.

During questioning, Ahmed failed to produce any valid documents including a passport, visa, or other mandatory papers required for legal entry and stay in India. The joint RPF-GRP team was conducting a heightened vigilance drive focused on railway station security when they intercepted the suspect. His inability to furnish legitimate travel and immigration documentation immediately raised red flags among security personnel.

Given the sensitive nature of the case, security and intelligence agencies were promptly alerted. The Local Intelligence Unit, Anti-Terrorism Squad, and Intelligence Bureau were all informed about the incident and conducted necessary inquiries at their respective levels. The coordinated response underscores the seriousness with which authorities are treating the matter of illegal border crossings and undocumented foreign nationals.

Following the completion of preliminary investigations, Ahmed was handed over to the GRP Mirzapur police station. A formal case has been registered as FIR number 155/2026, and further legal proceedings are currently underway against the detained individual. Authorities are investigating how Ahmed entered India without proper documentation and his intended destination.

Railway officials have emphasized that the timely identification of the suspect was made possible due to the alertness and effective checking mechanisms employed by the RPF and GRP teams. The joint vigilance effort once again reinforces the security agencies' commitment to maintaining strict surveillance and safety protocols across railway premises, particularly amid growing concerns about unauthorized cross-border movements.
