Bahraich police arrest suspect in two burglary cases at Piparia Mahipal Singh village

Bahraich police have arrested a suspect wanted in connection with two separate burglary cases registered at Ranipur police station. The accused, identified as Sonu Yadav, son of Laxmi Narayan Yadav and a resident of Tikora Mod Himriya under Kotwali Dehat police station in Bahraich district, was apprehended following intensive investigation and surveillance by local police teams.

The arrest relates to burglaries that occurred on the night of August 12-13, 2026, at Piparia Mahipal Singh village under Ranipur police station jurisdiction. Two separate First Information Reports were filed by complainants Masharam Maurya, son of Hiralal Maurya, and Roshan Lal Dwivedi, son of Girwar Dwivedi, both residents of the same village. Case number 150/2026 was registered under sections 305A and 331(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, while case number 157/2026 was lodged under sections 305(A), 62, and 331(4) BNS.

The operation was conducted under the overall supervision of Superintendent of Police Vishwajeet Srivastava, with Additional Superintendent of Police (City) Ayush Vikram Singh and Circle Officer Payagpur Harshita Tiwari providing field-level coordination. Station House Officer of Ranipur, Harendra Nath Rai, led the investigation team comprising Head Constable Amit Yadav, Constable Manjeet Maurya, and other officers.

Police records reveal that Sonu Yadav has a history of criminal activities. He was previously involved in case number 209/2024 under sections 323, 504, and 506 IPC at Kotwali Dehat police station, case number 305/2025 under BNS sections 305(a) and 317(2) at the same station, and two theft-related cases numbered 310/2023 and 38/2023 registered at GRP Gonda under sections 379, 411, and 414 IPC. Following his arrest, the accused was produced before the court for necessary legal proceedings as per protocol.
