A Muslim woman from Baghpat district has allegedly converted to Hinduism and married a Hindu youth from Muzaffarnagar according to Hindu rituals, after accusing her former husband of giving her triple talaq.
The woman has changed her name from Bhuri to Riya Malik after the conversion. Riya Malik said she was earlier married into a Muslim family. According to her, her husband consumed alcohol and used to beat her. She alleged that he later gave her triple talaq.
Riya said that after this, she decided of her own will to adopt Hinduism and marry a youth from Muzaffarnagar. She said she accepted Hinduism and got married according to Hindu customs with her own consent and choice.
The matter has come to light in Muzaffarnagar, while the woman is originally from Baghpat district. Riya has also approached the police seeking security. She has claimed that she faces a threat to her life from her former husband, her brother and members of her family.
