Union Cooperation and Home Minister Amit Shah will perform the digital ground-breaking ceremony for a modern dairy plant costing Rs 255 crore, which is to be established for Ujjain. The ceremony will be conducted from Bhopal on Saturday. The plant will begin operations with a milk-processing capacity of 3 lakh litres per day and will produce products ranging from packed milk to ghee.

Amit Shah will be in Bhopal on October 2 and 3, during which he will take part in several programmes. As part of this visit, he will perform the digital ground-breaking ceremony for the dairy plant and present the project to Ujjain.

The modern dairy plant is being established at a cost of Rs 255 crore by the State Cooperative Milk Federation. The project is aimed at expanding milk-processing capacity in Ujjain and the surrounding areas and strengthening the dairy sector in the region.

The efforts to expand milk-processing capacity and strengthen the dairy sector are being carried out by Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The proposed plant is part of this work in and around Ujjain.

According to the project details, the plant will have modern processing facilities for better utilisation of the milk received from dairy producers. It will also support value addition to milk and the production of different dairy products.

The project is expected to give fresh momentum to milk processing, value addition and the production of various dairy products in the region. The expansion of dairy activities is also expected to strengthen the rural economy and help provide high-quality dairy products to consumers.

The total project cost will be met through a combination of state government support and borrowing by the milk union. Of the total Rs 255 crore, Rs 170 crore will be provided by the state government as a grant. The remaining Rs 85 crore will be arranged by the milk union through a loan.

The project has been targeted for completion within the next two years. Once established, the plant will start with the capacity to process 3 lakh litres of milk per day. Its processing capacity can be expanded in the future to 5 lakh litres per day.

The increase in capacity is expected to allow processing facilities to expand along with the growing availability of milk in Ujjain and the surrounding areas. The project will therefore include both the initial processing capacity and the provision for future expansion up to 5 lakh litres per day.

The plant will manufacture several dairy products using modern processing facilities. It will have the capacity to produce 1.50 lakh litres of packed milk per day.

The proposed facility will also produce 25 thousand litres of curd per day. In addition, it will have a capacity to produce 10 thousand litres of lassi/buttermilk per day.

A ghee plant with a capacity of 10 metric tonnes per day will also be established as part of the project. This means the facility will cover products from packed milk and curd to lassi/buttermilk and ghee.

With the digital ground-breaking ceremony scheduled to be performed by Amit Shah from Bhopal on Saturday, the Rs 255-crore project is set to move ahead with the target of being completed in the next two years.
