Amethi trainee woman constable dies under suspicious circumstances during home leave in Kanpur

A 22-year-old trainee woman constable posted at Mohanganj police station in Amethi has died under suspicious circumstances at her home in Reuna, Kanpur. The deceased has been identified as Pratiksha Singh. She had come home on seven days’ leave.

Pratiksha’s body was found in her room on the second floor of the house after she returned to her family home. The discovery caused distress among her family members. Police reached the spot after receiving information and have started an investigation.

According to her family, Pratiksha had spoken to her younger sister over the phone while returning home. During the conversation, she had said that she was under stress. After reaching home, she went to her room. Her body was later found there.

Pratiksha had received her first posting at the Mohanganj police station in Amethi. She was performing duty at the women’s help desk there.

Her father, Vijay Singh Vais, has made serious allegations in the case. He alleged that some incident had taken place involving his daughter while she was on duty at the police station, after which she had started remaining under stress. He has demanded a fair investigation so that the truth can come to light.

According to the family, Pratiksha’s mobile phone was also found reset. This has raised questions in connection with the case.

Police are questioning the family members and examining all aspects of the matter. The investigation is currently under way. However, the official cause of Pratiksha Singh’s death has not yet been confirmed.
