Agra is set to host the fourth edition of the Agra Taj Half Marathon on 14 February 2027. The event will be organised under the message ‘उठो, जागो और दौड़ो’, with thousands of runners expected to take part. The marathon will begin from Eklavya Sports Stadium, Agra.

The formal launch of the fourth edition was held at Hotel Grand Mercure on Fatehabad Road. The organising committee unveiled the event with the ‘Run With Love’ logo. The programme was inaugurated by lighting a ceremonial lamp by chief guest Dr. Arun Tiwari, a national-level gold medallist pistol shooter and consultant urologist, special guest ACP Amit Kumar, and Khelgaon director Siddharth Gupta.

According to the organising committee, all race categories of the Agra Taj Half Marathon are certified by the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS). Organisers said this certification will give international recognition to the records and timings of runners. They also said that participants will be able to qualify for marathons held at the global level.

Dr. Sanjay Gupta and Sandeep Dhal, vice-presidents of the organising committee, said thousands of runners from India and other countries are expected to participate. The participants will include professional athletes, fitness enthusiasts, corporate teams, students and residents of Agra.

The marathon will have three categories of 21 km, 10 km and 5 km. The race routes will offer participants a view of Agra’s historical heritage and culture. The event is being planned to combine running with the city’s well-known historical surroundings.

Event secretary Dr. Dinesh Rathore said runners would participate with messages such as ‘Run With Love’, ‘Run For Someone’ and ‘Run With Someone’. He said the event, which will be held against the historical backdrop of the Taj Mahal, would convey a message of love and fitness to the world.

Registration for the marathon has already begun. According to the organisers, anyone above the age of 5 years can participate in the event. Interested participants can register through www.agrasportsfoundation.com and www.athm.in. For more information, they can contact 8126640855.

Three promo races will be organised before the main marathon. The first promo race will start from Khelgaon in Dayalbagh at 6:05 am on 1 November 2026. Organisers said the purpose of these races is to prepare new runners mentally and physically for the main event.

Participants registered for the marathon will also be given T-shirts before the promo races. The organisers said these preliminary races will help runners become familiar with the event and prepare for the main marathon.

During the programme, emphasis will also be placed on social messages related to health awareness and the participation of youth and women. Arrangements will be made for hydration points and medical support for the runners. Cultural and motivational programmes will also be organised along the route to encourage participants during the race.

Dr. NS Lodhi, Dr. Rachna Agrawal, Dr. Varsha Gupta, Jai Yadav, Paramjit Singh, Sarvesh Kashyap and Gaurav Goyal, along with other members associated with the organising committee, were present at the programme.
