PM Narendra Modi departed on Saturday morning for a 6-day visit to France and Slovakia, scheduled from June 13 to June 18. This marks his 7th visit to France since becoming Prime Minister.
On June 13-14, he will be in Nice, France, where he is set to hold bilateral discussions with French President Emmanuel Macron and inaugurate the 'India Innovates' program.
The program, aimed at connecting Indian startups and research institutions with global investors and organizations, will take place at Palais des Expositions in Nice. On June 14, PM Modi will travel to Slovakia, where he will stay until June 15.
During this visit, he will meet Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico and President Peter Pellegrini. Notably, this is the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Slovakia since it became an independent nation in 1993.
PM Modi will return to France on June 16 and participate in the G7 Summit in Évian on June 17. Discussions at the summit will focus on global economic cooperation, international partnerships, and artificial intelligence (AI).
PM Modi may also meet US President Donald Trump and other world leaders during the summit. The 'India Innovates' initiative, announced by PM Modi in February 2026, aims to foster collaboration between Indian institutions and global entities.
France, a key defense partner of India, has consistently supported India on international platforms, including advocating for India's permanent membership in the UN Security Council and its inclusion in the Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG).
