Seminar on Defence Procurement and Innovation Ends in Delhi

A two-day seminar focusing on defence procurement and innovation concluded in New Delhi on June 12, 2026. Jointly organized by Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff (HQ IDS) and Centre for Joint Warfare Studies (CENJOWS), the event aimed to enhance industry participation in India's defence ecosystem.

Over 150 start-ups and MSMEs, along with 10 venture capitalists and defence stakeholders, attended the seminar titled "Demystifying Defence Procurement, iDEX, TPCR and Testing Procedures for MSMEs and Start-ups." Sessions covered key topics such as Defence Acquisition Procedure (DAP), iDEX framework, indigenization initiatives, and Technology Perspective and Capability Roadmap (TPCR).

Participants gained insights into procurement cycles, prototype development, and collaboration mechanisms with defence organizations. Experts from major defence institutions engaged directly with attendees, simplifying complex regulatory and procedural frameworks. Structured Q&A sessions provided actionable guidance for innovators and manufacturers.

One major outcome was the creation of a tailored procedural framework for MSMEs and start-ups, strengthening their role in the defence innovation ecosystem. Discussions also emphasized import substitution, indigenous development, and expanded industry involvement in capability-building initiatives.

The seminar concluded with a renewed focus on self-reliance in defence manufacturing, highlighting the importance of sustained industry engagement and streamlined processes to integrate MSMEs and start-ups into India's defence architecture.
