The State Bank of India (SBI) has officially released the notification for its 2026 recruitment drive to hire Probationary Officers (PO). Vacancy Details
The 1,500 positions include both regular and backlog vacancies. The distribution of seats is as follows:

Additionally, 54 positions are reserved for backlog vacancies.

Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualifications:
Candidates must hold a graduate degree from a recognized university. Final-year students are also eligible to apply, provided they can furnish proof of graduation during the interview process. Chartered Accountants (CA) are eligible as well. Integrated Dual Degree (IDD) candidates must ensure their degree completion date aligns with the notification’s requirements.

Age Limit:
Applicants must be between 21 and 30 years of age as of April 1, 2026. This means candidates born between April 2, 1996, and April 1, 2005, are eligible. Age relaxation will be applicable as per government norms.

Selection Process
The recruitment process consists of three stages:
1. Preliminary Examination: This online test will feature objective multiple-choice questions. Marks obtained in this stage will not contribute to the final merit list.
2. Main Examination: The main exam will include both objective and descriptive sections. Topics covered will include reasoning, data analysis and interpretation, general awareness, and English language. The descriptive section may involve tasks such as letter writing, email drafting, or report writing.
3. Psychometric Test, Group Exercise, and Personal Interview: Candidates who clear the main exam will undergo psychometric testing, group exercises, and a personal interview. Final selection will be based on performance across all stages.

Salary and Benefits
SBI offers one of the most attractive salary packages in the banking sector. The starting basic pay for a PO is ₹48,480 per month, with in-hand monthly earnings ranging between ₹80,000 and ₹82,000, including allowances. For postings in Mumbai, the annual cost-to-company (CTC) can go up to ₹21.79 lakh. Additional benefits include Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), City Compensatory Allowance (CCA), medical facilities, and other perks.
