Lionel Messi has already made headlines at the FIFA World Cup 2026 with a historic hat-trick against Algeria, but it is an off-field moment with a young fan that has warmed hearts across the globe. A viral video shows the Argentina captain engaging with supporters, posing for pictures, and sharing a special interaction with a child.

What caught the attention of fans was the adorable exchange where the young fan demonstrated a dance move, seemingly teaching Messi a new goal celebration. The eight-time Ballon d'Or winner watched the demonstration intently, smiling throughout. This has sparked widespread speculation among fans about whether Messi might unveil the move after his next goal.

Messi’s hat-trick in Argentina’s 3-0 victory over Algeria in Kansas City marked a historic milestone in his illustrious career. It was his first-ever World Cup hat-trick, making him the oldest player to achieve the feat in the tournament’s history at 38 years old. The emotional moment saw Messi wiping away tears with his jersey before celebrating with teammates. Reflecting on his emotions after the match, Messi said, "My tears after the first goal? I've had some tough days. It wasn't related to football. I thank my teammates, the coaching staff, and the delegation for helping me."

The three goals also brought Messi to 16 World Cup goals, equalling the all-time record held by German legend Miroslav Klose. One more strike will make him the outright leading scorer in World Cup history.

Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni was full of praise for his captain, calling him "incredible" and admitting he was "at a loss for words" after Messi's performance. The hat-trick came exactly 20 years after Messi’s World Cup debut and marked the 61st hat-trick of his career. Reflecting on his journey, Messi said, "It makes me very happy to have lived through everything that came my way. What I'm living through now is the cherry on top."

As Argentina prepares for their next match, fans are left wondering: if Messi scores his record-breaking 17th World Cup goal, will he celebrate with the dance move taught to him by his youngest coach?
