India Participates in Global Social Justice Meet at ILC Geneva

Union Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Ms. Shobha Karandlaje, led the Indian delegation at the 114th International Labour Conference (ILC) in Geneva, Switzerland. On June 11, 2026, she attended the Coordination Group Meeting of the Global Coalition for Social Justice (GCSJ), held on the conference's sidelines.

The Global Coalition for Social Justice, established by the International Labour Organization (ILO) in 2023, aims to enhance multilateral cooperation and translate political commitments into actionable outcomes. It brings together governments, employers, workers' organizations, and other stakeholders to foster inclusive and equitable labour markets.

During the meeting, Ms. Karandlaje engaged with the ILO Director General, Labour Ministers from Bangladesh, Moldova, Brazil, Switzerland, and the Vice Minister of Belgium, among other dignitaries. India reaffirmed its commitment to advancing the Coalition's objectives, including promoting inclusive growth, strengthening social protection systems, and encouraging responsible business practices.

Underlining India's proactive role, Ms. Karandlaje emphasized the nation's dedication to fostering international cooperation for resilient labour markets. This aligns with India's broader vision of equitable development under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership.

The meeting highlighted the importance of global partnerships in addressing labour challenges and ensuring social justice. India's active participation underscores its commitment to shaping a fair and sustainable global labour framework.
