A 15-day workshop on transliterating Ayurveda manuscripts in Tigalari and Old Kannada scripts began today at Udupi, Karnataka.
Organized by CCRAS and Central Sanskrit University, the initiative aims to preserve India's traditional knowledge heritage by preparing rare unpublished texts for publication. Scholars from Ayurveda and Sanskrit backgrounds are participating.
The workshop, held at Sri Puthige Narasimha Sabhabhavana, is supported by Sri Vadiraja Research Foundation and blessed by Sri Puthige Matha pontiffs. Prof.
Vaidya Rabinarayan Acharya, Director General of CCRAS, inaugurated the event, emphasizing the importance of preserving Ayurveda knowledge under the Gyan Bharatam Mission.
This is the third such workshop by CCRAS and CSU, following earlier sessions in Odisha and Kerala focusing on other regional scripts. Participants will work on deciphering, transliterating, and editing manuscripts, contributing to their eventual publication.
Faculty and students from local Ayurveda colleges and Sanskrit institutions are actively involved. The manuscripts developed during the program will enhance access to India's rich knowledge traditions, particularly in coastal Karnataka.
