On Saturday evening, a tragic accident occurred near Sharda Mandir in Barela, approximately 30 km from Jabalpur. A high-speed dumper collided with a Scorpio, causing the car to catch fire.
Two youths from Haryana, identified as Parveen Sharma from Baund Kalan and Monu Sharma from Kheri Bura, were trapped inside the burning vehicle and lost their lives. Both were working as drivers and were returning to Haryana from Raipur.
According to eyewitnesses, the dumper dragged the Scorpio for nearly 500 meters after the collision, during which the fire intensified. Local residents attempted to extinguish the flames and rescue the occupants, but the fire spread too quickly.
By the time fire services and police arrived, both individuals had succumbed to the blaze. The Scorpio, registered in Arya Nagar, Rohtak, belonged to Gaurav Kumar, who is involved in the motor car business.
Police have informed the vehicle owner and the victims' families, who are en route to Jabalpur. The dumper driver fled the scene, and authorities are actively searching for him.
The charred remains of the vehicle have been sent for investigation, and the bodies have been taken to the medical college for post-mortem. The accident briefly disrupted traffic on the Jabalpur-Mandla road as a crowd gathered at the site.
