Top Class Education Scheme empowers SC students for success

The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment highlighted the success of SC students under the Top Class Education Scheme on June 15, 2026.

The scheme has supported over 4,700 students in 2025-26, providing financial aid for tuition, living expenses, and academic needs in premier institutions across India.

Launched in 2007-08, the scheme aims to empower SC students from families with annual incomes up to ₹8 lakh by enabling access to quality higher education.

Over the years, the number of beneficiaries has grown significantly, with annual expenditure rising from ₹2.17 crore to ₹117.19 crore. Students supported under the scheme have achieved remarkable success in diverse fields, including engineering, law, management, and design.

Examples include placements in top companies like Amazon and Bharat Electronics Limited, showcasing the scheme's role in fostering professional excellence.

The initiative also encourages innovation and entrepreneurship, with beneficiaries contributing to sectors like artificial intelligence, healthcare technologies, and creative industries.
